A molar pregnancy can pose serious risks to the mother, including a type of cancer known as gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD). Identifying a molar pregnancy is critical for appropriate clinical management. Complete paternal uniparental disomy (UPD)* and triploidy of paternal origin are associated with a risk of molar pregnancy.<\/li>\n<li><strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color\">Anora is the only miscarriage test<\/mark><\/strong> that determines the parental origin of triploidy. This capability is important because triploidy of maternal origin does not cause a molar pregnancy and does not place the woman at risk of GTD.<\/li>\n<li><strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color\">Anora can distinguish<\/mark><\/strong> between maternal and fetal DNA, allowing maternal cell contamination to be excluded.<\/li>\n<li><strong><mark class=\"has-inline-color\">Anora can determine<\/mark><\/strong> whether a chromosomal abnormality originated in the egg or sperm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>*<mark class=\"has-inline-color\">Complete paternal UPD<\/mark> means that all chromosomes are inherited exclusively from the father, which can lead to serious complications, including molar pregnancy (abnormal proliferation of trophoblastic tissue in the uterus).<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note:<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1) Tissue samples must be stored in physiological saline (0.9% NaCl).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2) Tissue samples preserved or placed in formalin are not suitable for testing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3) Parental samples are not required for testing but ARE REQUIRED to exclude maternal cell contamination in a chromosomally normal female fetus and to determine the parental origin of an abnormality.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"title-bio-lab\">Required biological material:<\/h2>\n<p class=\"pre-title-bio-lab\">Testing is performed using tissue remaining after pregnancy loss and maternal blood.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"list-bio-lab\">\n<li>First-trimester pregnancy loss: chorionic villi, products of conception<\/li>\n<li>Second-trimester pregnancy loss or stillbirth: any fetal tissue (liver, skin, diaphragm, lung), umbilical cord tissue, umbilical cord blood, maternal or paternal blood<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The results may help explain why the miscarriage occurred and whether you may have an increased risk of a chromosomal abnormality in a future pregnancy.
