6 steps
of IVF

  1. 1. Stimulation
In order for several eggs to mature in a woman’s ovaries at once, gonadotropins and agonists or antagonists of GRG are used.
  2. 2. Ovarian puncture
The doctor performs a puncture of the ovaries. This is a low-traumatic outpatient IVF operation, which is performed under general intravenous anesthesia.
  3. 3. Fertilization
After receiving the cells from the couple, they are fertilized on the same day. After treatment, the cells are placed in a nutrient medium containing oocytes.
  4. 4. Embryo cultivation
Fertilized eggs are placed in a special nutrient medium, after which they are transferred to an incubator. It simulates an environment identical to a woman’s fallopian tubes.
  5. 5. Embryo transfer
At the discretion of the doctor, embryo transplanting is carried out on the 3rd or 5th day. It depends on whether the embryos have reached a certain level of development and how ready the woman’s body is to accept them.
  6. 6. Support and control of pregnancy development
After embryo implantation, the reproductologist prescribes hormonal medications to the woman, designed to create conditions for the onset of pregnancy and its maintenance.

    FAQ

    • When can we talk about infertility? If a year of regular, unprotected sexual activity passes without pregnancy, it is advisable for both spouses to undergo an examination, as infertility may be suspected.
    • How long does the examination take to identify the causes of infertility? The examination period of a married couple should not exceed 6 months. Is it always possible to diagnose the causes of infertility? Unfortunately, despite the rapid development of reproductive technologies, it is not always possible to determine the cause of infertility. Sometimes it is necessary to conduct a trial course of treatment, according to the results of which the diagnosis is clarified and a decision is made to change the treatment method.
    • What are the guarantees of pregnancy? Natural human fertility is low. The probability of pregnancy in women with regular sexual activity and full health of both spouses is only 15-20% in one menstrual cycle. The IVF and PE program has developed such superovulation stimulation schemes that double this indicator, i.e. up to 40% per attempt. But no IVF center can guarantee 100% success with one attempt.
    • What is IVF? IVF (in vitro fertilization) is the fertilization of an egg outside a woman’s body, “in vitro”. The IVF method is by far the most effective method of infertility treatment. It is used in case of obstruction or absence of fallopian tubes, with male factor of infertility, with endometriosis, ovarian pathology, infertility of unknown cause, as well as in cases of ineffectiveness of other methods of treatment.
    • What are the stages of IVF? The main stages of IVF treatment are: stimulation of superovulation with hormonal drugs; puncture of follicles and extraction of eggs; fertilization of eggs with sperm of a spouse or donor “in vitro”; transfer of embryos into the uterine cavity, and, if necessary, freezing of the remaining embryos.
