Batyr Bekmussayev

Founder of Kazakhstan’s first IVF clinic and CEO of the Ecomed clinic network.

Born in Baikadam, Sarysu District, Zhambyl Region. Graduated from the Almaty Power Engineering Institute in 1980.

At the time Kazakhstan gained independence, he worked in the Foreign Relations Department of the State Committee for Nature Protection of the Kazakh SSR.

In 1991 he founded Syrym. He later sold the business to support the vision of his wife, Saltanat Baikoshkarova. In 1995 they established Kazakhstan’s first IVF laboratory, the Ecomed medical centre.

Under Batyr Bekmussayev’s leadership, the Institute of Human Reproduction and Embryology and the Kazakhstan Association of Human Reproduction were also established.
